The Tao of Gaming

By the way

Be sure to look into the comments while you are perusing The Hundred. Some good, some snarky, some both.

There are also two geeklists for The Hundred.

After this morning, I decided to see what I got in the Citadels Expansion. The answer (which I should have read into before purchasing), not a lot. I already had the FFG version, which gave me the alternate characters. And I use card sleeves (for this game, and a few others), so the replacement cards aren't so important. The wooden king is nice, but basically for $7 I got 15 district cards, at least one of which I won't play with because it requires you to grovel to the King. I hate things like Cosmic's "Humming moon", and Bruno's games have them in comparitive spades. Citadels had been free of this curse, until now. On the other hand, the other districts are interesting. And while the cost to card ratio isn't good, I play CCGs, so I'm used to it. (And a nice box, to boot. I may be able to pack the entire game in this new, smaller box. Must remember to see). Smaller box means easier to carry around, which means more plays. [Just ask Battle Cry].

I forgot to wish everyone a happy Guy Fawkes Day, and on the 400th anniversary. [Mysterious papists confound me at every turn. I remembered about it Friday and Today, but not on the 5th of November] I read Faith and Treason 18 months ago. Interesting, even if (like so many books) I remember little. More dangerously, papists almost made me forget my wife's birthday ("Always remember the 4th of November....") The dangers of having a gift all squared away.

GMT should be shipping a game of my soon. I'm tempted to make a list minute pre-order of Twilight Struggle, but a) I've been burned before and b) I'm never going to play it (just like all of the others). Still, tempting.
