Kung Fu Panda -- Pretty good if you can stand the 'Jack Black fanboy' schtick.

Wall*E -- An OK Pixar movie, which makes it better than most, but I we're not sold on getting the DVD.

And, if you want a full paragraph or so.

KFP -- No pop culture filler (yea!), some really good actual (non-CGI) animation ala Samurai Jack, decent action sequences (given that it's CGI). Jack Black. You should know whether you like that last part or not. Several good jokes.

Wall*E -- Not nearly as much of a kid flick as I expected. My son (5 years old) was begging to leave with 30 minutes to go. I think it probably could have been trimmed a bit, although I enjoyed the length it didn't feel as tight. I suspect my daughter enjoyed it, but she wasn't raving. Action sequences weren't as strong as the Incredibles, but how could they be? (Ditto Character Development/Ratatouille or Monsters, Inc or Nemo) On the other hand, I'm comparing it to the other movies by the greatest animation studio of my lifetime .... and the short was pretty good, too.

BTW, you Koldfoot should do a passenger poll for every movie.

Eh, We'll buy anything Pixar pumps out on DVD - keep them coffers rolling, I say! We saw Wall-E last night, and enjoyed the movie. I agree it's not their best, but both of my boys watched it all the way through without too much squirming... I think that's how I'll start rating kids movies now. The coolest thing is that it was a half-decent sci-fi flick that did a better job at true sci-fi than most serious Hollywood attempts.

I've been pleased with the course that Pixar has taken. I was concerned when they re-integrated with the mouse, as I wasn't sure they'd continue the trend of the Incredibles of appealing to more adult audiences. I've happily been proven wrong. They keep pushing the boundary of what would be considered a kid's movie. Ratatouille really isn't a very good kid's movie, but it's great for anybody pre-teen on up. Wall-E, although not raising the bar in this regard, hasn't let it drop.

I'm hoping someday they'll actually do a movie strictly for adults, but we'll see. I think enough of us have grown up on animation to form an audience. Maybe once they get big enough that they start doing two movies a year.
