The Tao of Gaming

Bruno's jeu de l'année nominees & Other awards

You can peruse the list at his site. Seeing as how I've only played one of them, I shan't comment.

I've played many more of the Meeple's Choice nominees, but I still couldn't bring myself to vote for three. (I voted for Battlestar Galactica and Cosmic Encounter .... yes, the latter is based on the Eon version. Sue me). I'm tempted to vote for Dominion (played several face to face games this weekend) ...

Update: And Rule #1 of the internet -- Snark begets Snark. (Rule #2 is that snark quality has no genetic component).

I'm curious, Brian, is there a third game that you would have voted for that didn't make the final group of 25?

As for the Snark duel, I'm just impressed that Slate cited Acquire. Even negative mentions can be celebrated if you're a gamer geek. And in the Geeklist, I liked Decker's addition of Arkham Horror, with the note that "Journalists make great snacks!".

I liked my comparison to alchemy ... but the tasty crack was nice, too.

I can't think of a 3rd game I'd vote for that didn't make the final 25. No other game on the list (even ones I like) grabbed me and gave me shaken gamer syndrome like BSG. Cosmic gets the nod because its a classic. The other games are merely good (or worse).

There's a Die Macher media joke to be made, but I can't be bothered to come up with it.
